PROJECT GOAL
Create a smartphone-based digital driver's license that addresses and solves the problems associated with physical IDs.
As digital security increases, the opportunity to use our personal information via our wearable and mobile devices increases.
However, digital versions of personal identification such as driver's licenses are just emerging and not yet widely accepted and available.

The Problem
01. Fake IDs can easily be printed with the right materials, and are more accessible than ever because of the Internet.
02. Physical IDs can easily be lost or stolen.
03. Physical IDs often lack readability, strong typographic hierarchy, and a distinct visual style.
MARKET RESEARCH
Competitive Analysis
Most current forms of digital identification are starting in the right direction, but haven't really attempted to reimagine how an ID could work in a digital format. Most existing designs are simply recreations of physical IDs.
Colorado is one of the few states so far that has attempted to create a digital counterpart for driver's licenses. Although it is a step in the right direction, there are some issues that prevent it from being a great solution.
Inspiration Board
When coming up with a visual direction for my design, I wanted to make sure that I captured the spirit of Colorado. Colorado is a beautiful state known for its stunning natural landscapes. I wanted to capture the vivid forests and rolling hills in my design.
Design Iterations
Over the span of several weeks, I experimented and came up with several iterations of this design before I landed on one that was the most successful in terms of typographic hierarchy, readability, and overall visual style.
Final UI Screens
Login Screen
This screen explores the overall visual style of the digital driver's license.
Full Identification
The full identification screen displays all of the information you would find on a physical driver's license.
Age Verification
This screen provides quick verification of the user's age without divulging other personal information.
Takeaway
My main takeaway from this project is that iteration is an extremely important part of the design process. With each iteration, I was able to drastically improve my design and learn from mistakes that I made.
